A birthday Cookie

Cookie Cuccurullo

Happy birthday to Cookie Cuccurullo, who if he were still with us would be 106 years old today.

Arthur Cuccurullo – one of only four “Cookies” among the 23,114 players to reach the major leagues – wins 13 games in the Class B Interstate League during the 1942 season before reaching the majors in 1943 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He spends parts of three seasons in the majors before returning to the minors.

Oh, the three other Cookies in the majors?

They are infielders Harry “Cookie” Lavagetto and Octavio “Cookie” Rojas, and pitcher Carlos “Cookie” Carrasco.
