An exclusive club in Montreal

Ross Grimsley leaves the Baltimore Orioles 45 years ago today to sign a three-year, $687,000 free agent contract with the Montreal Expos.

Grimsley promptly wins 20 games in 1978, marking the first time in their first 10 seasons the Expos have a 20-game winner.

Turns out Grimsley is the only 20-game winner ever for the Expos, who after 36 summers in Montreal move after the 2004 season to Washington, D.C.

The franchise then goes without another 20-game winner until 2012, when left-hander Gio Gonzalez wins 21 for the Nationals.
