Coming back just in time to be part of history

Big moment 13 years ago tonight for the Washington Nationals’ Jordan Zimmermann, who is pitching in a major league game for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery a year earlier.

This night in 2010 is just as big, though, for St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols at Nationals Park, where he launches Zimmerman’s second pitch of the fourth inning over the wall in right-center for his 400th career homer.

Pujols' milestone homer for St. Louis turns out to be a mere hiccup for the Nationals in an 11-10 victory over the Cardinals in 13 innings at Nationals Park.

Pujols returns to Washington in 2014 – this time with the Los Angeles Angels – and cranks out No. 500 against Taylor Jordan in his Hall of Fame-bound career, which finishes in 2022 with 703 homers.
