Just another night at chilly Candlestick Park

Attorney Melvin Belli – the so-called “King of Torts” – takes on the San Francisco Giants 62 years ago today and wins a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the team.

Belli, a Giants season ticket holder, successfully argues the box seat he purchases in 1960 at Candlestick Park does not have, as he claims the Giants promise, radiant heat.

Belli claims the seat, which costs him $1,597, is supposed to, well, keep his derriere warm during Candlestick’s cold summer nights.

In an unrelated matter, six years later in 1968, Belli is the guest star in a most forgettable episode in the original Star Trek called “And the Children Shall Lead.”

No lawsuits are filed during the filming of the episode.
