Going international

A month after celebrating his 20th birthday, onetime wunderkind pitcher Stephen Strasburg brings his enormous talent to the international stage 15 years ago today, striking out 11 over seven innings in a 7-0 victory over the Netherlands at the Olympics in Beijing.

The losing pitcher for the Dutch is Shairon Martis, who like Strasburg once summers in Class AA Harrisburg on his way to the major leagues.
