He’s back …

Ten days after an epic postgame meltdown in which he blasts the team’s fans, the local media and most things Harrisburg, Pa., in abruptly announcing his resignation, Doug Sisson contritely returns as the Class AA Senators’ manager 25 years ago today.

The Montreal Expos then shockingly rehire Sisson to manage their prized Class AA team, but not first without telling Sisson to apologize to everybody he verbally incinerates on his way out of town.

After Sisson’s return, the Senators win 32 of the final 51 games to reach the 1999 Eastern League playoffs.

Sisson then navigates the Senators through one of the most exciting postseasons on any level for their fourth straight EL title with a scant one run deciding each of the nine postseason games.

The title run ends on a straight out of Hollywood two-out, two-strike, bottom-of-the-ninth, walkoff grand slam by Milton Bradley – the outfielder, not the board game company – in the final game.
