Not the best of days
Kip Selbach builds a fairly solid reputation of being a below-low average left fielder for the original Baltimore Orioles. Alas for Selbach, he is really bad 121 years ago today as he becomes the first American League outfielder in the 20th century to commit five errors in one game.
Three of those miscues come in one inning — another record for futility — during an 11-4 loss to the St. Louis Browns.
The Orioles finish in last place and then fold, moving to New York the following season and becoming the Highlanders, who eventually change their name and become the Yankees.
