Oh, Henry

Hank Aaron hits only inside-the-park home run among the 755 homers during his Hall of Fame career, and that one homer comes 57 years ago today in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader at Philadelphia’s Connie Mack Stadium.

The homer comes in the eighth inning off Phillies starter Jim Bunning, a two-run drive past center fielder Don Lock to tie the score at 3.

Philadelphia eventually wins the game 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth on a passed ball by catcher Joe Torre.

The homer is Aaron’s sixth of the 1967 season and 448th of his career.

Aaron homers again in the second game of the doubleheader, this time a more conventional homer deep over the left-field wall off Larry Jackson in the third inning to give the Braves a 2-1 lead en route to a 7-2 victory before a Wednesday night crowd of 9,252.

The homers are two of the 39 Aaron hits at Connie Mack Stadium from 1954-70, a span over which he bats .325 with 128 RBIs in 156 games.
