One last pitch
Onetime New York Yankee pitcher Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez, out of the major leagues since 2007, joins the Class AA Harrisburg Senators 14 years ago today in an attempt to keep alive his career.
At 44, Hernandez becomes the oldest player in Harrisburg baseball history, a history that dates to 1890.
As for his 2010 comeback, Hernandez – seen here through the lens of photographer extraordinaire Will Bentzel – pitches well out of Harrisburg’s bullpen before abruptly leaving the playoff-bound Senators on the eve of their season-ending road trip.
He never again pitches in organized baseball.
