Quote of the day: Wade Boggs

Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs on spending six seasons in the minor leagues and batting .318 with 2,680 plate appearances before reaching the majors in 1982:

“One of the characteristics I see today with players is the ‘I know it all’ attitude. I hate say that, but they come up to the big leagues now after hitting .240, .250 in the minor leagues and they’re being told they’re the greatest thing in the world. They have – what? – 400 at-bats (in the minors). They don’t spend enough time down there. Then, they have to learn the job when they get up (to the majors). It’s just not that easy.”
