Remembering a former Purdue baseball coach

Today marks what would have been the 100th birthday of Hank Stram, the onetime head coach of Purdue's baseball team.

Stram, seen here on the far left in the Boilermakers' 1954 team photo, also dabbles as an assistant coach for the college's football team.

Stram runs Purdue's baseball program from 1951-55, posting a meh record of 53-58-2 before pursuing a full-time gig in football.

Good move, too, as Stram eventually ends up in the old American Football League – and, subsequently, the NFL – with the Kansas City Chiefs, leading them to Super Bowls I and IV.

He is inducted into the Hall of Fame – the one for football, not baseball – in 2003, two years before he matriculates to eternity.
