The Izzy bat race

Harrisburg Senators corner infielder Israel Alcantara homers in his franchise-record sixth straight game 26 years ago today in a 6-2 victory at Portland.

Alcantara finishes the season with 27 homers in only 89 games with the Senators.

He spends the next 12 seasons traveling the globe, playing for a variety of teams from Reading, Pa.; Mexico, the Dominican and Korea with brief stopovers in the major leagues with Boston and Milwaukee.
