The shirt off his back

Sixty years after five days after Lou Gehrig gives his iconic “luckiest man” speech on July 4, 1939, the uniform Gehrig wears that day sells for $451,541 at auction 24 years ago today.

The purchaser is a man from south Florida whose name is not revealed to the public.

Guess if you can afford to drop a half-mil on a 60-year-old flannel pinstripe uniform – do not forget to add on those auction fees and taxes – then you can buy some anonymity.
