What, again?

Exactly six years and three days after his eighth-inning single spoils a no-hitter by San Francisco’s Juan Marichal in Marichal’s 1960 major league debut, the Phillies’ Clay Dalrymple returns to Candlestick Park 57 years ago today and ruins Gaylord Perry’s bid for another no-hitter of Philadelphia with a single to start the eighth inning.

Perry finishes the 4-1 game with a two-hitter and a San Francisco-record 15 strikeouts, seven of which come against Philadelphia’s No. 3 and 4 hitters, Dick Allen and Bill White.
