What, again?

Exactly six years and three days after his eighth-inning single spoils a no-hitter by San Francisco’s Juan Marichal in Marichal’s 1960 major league debut, the Phillies’ Clay Dalrymple returns to Candlestick Park 58 years ago today and ruins Gaylord Perry’s no-hit bid against Philadelphia with a single to start the eighth inning.

Perry finishes the 4-1 game with a two-hitter and a San Francisco-record 15 strikeouts, seven of which come against Philadelphia’s No. 3 and 4 hitters, Dick Allen and Bill White.
