A Young moment with the Mets

Thirteen years ago today, Chris Young becomes the first pitcher in the New York Mets’ first 50 seasons to get two hits in one inning.

Both of his hits are singles and come off the Phillies’ Cole Hamels in the third inning of the Mets’ 7-1 victory before a Tuesday night crowd of 45,365 at Philadelphia.

Young finishes the game 3-for-3 and his only victory during an injury-marred 2011 season.

Today, Young is the general manager of the Texas Rangers and the architect behind the Rangers’ 2023 World Series winner.
