End of a streak
Jim Reboulet's Harrisburg franchise-record, 32-game hitting streak ends in a most unusual way 36 years ago today.
Actually, Reboulet goes a long way in ending the streak himself by flying out in the first inning and then getting ejected in the third inning of the Senators’ 1-0 loss in 11 innings at Pittsfield.
Reboulet deprives himself of at least two more chances to extend his hitting streak when he is thrown out of the game by umpire Kevin O'Connor after walking in the third inning, promptly getting picked off by Pittsfield pitcher Bill Danek and then arguing with O’Connor about the call.
Applying the tag on Reboulet is first baseman Mark Grace, who goes on to be named the Eastern League's MVP in 1987 before starting an outstanding, 16-year career in the majors with the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks.
